Republican Senator Gerald Allen Kicks Off Senate Campaign
Tuscaloosa - Republican State Senator Gerald Allen today kicked off his campaign for State Senate District 21. Allen was elected in 2010 and is currently serving his first term in the Alabama Senate.
Senator Allen has been a conservative voice for Tuscaloosa as a member of the Senate, pushing for bills related to protecting the unborn, streamlining government, growing the economy, and supporting the Second Amendment. “My track record in the Senate is a representation of the conservative values of the voters in Tuscaloosa, Lamar and Pickens Counties,” Allen said.
“When Republicans took over the Legislature in 2010, we said enough is enough,” Allen continued. “For years, Democrats in this state ignored the voters, passing burdensome regulations on small businesses and turning a blind eye to corruption. In four short years, Republicans have passed a sweeping package of ethics reform bills, reduced government red tape and bureaucracy, and passed some of the strongest pro-life legislation of any state.”
Allen is perhaps best known for his work in supporting the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance as a member of the State House of Representatives, ensuring the state followed through on its commitments to the automobile manufacturer. Today, the Mercedes-Benz plant employs approximately 3,000 Alabamians and opened the door for the automobile industry to invest billions in the state.
Senator Allen was raised in Tuscaloosa and attended the University of Alabama where he earned a degree in education. Allen is the owner of CASHCO Marketing, a small business in Cottondale. Allen and his wife, Sheila, have three grown children and six grandchildren. The Allen’s attend Gilgal Baptist Church in Duncanville.
Senate District 21 includes portions of Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties and all of Lamar County. The Republican primary is scheduled for June 3, 2014.
